Better together! Team spirit is the catchphrase of the current issue of L’Officiel Austria. We are looking at the trend towards new synergies in fashion and its alliances. From Kenneth Ize and Carine Roitfeld to Silvia Venturini Fendi and Sarah Coleman, we asked the most thrilling duets for a double interview. As always, conversations with fashion icons like Iris van Herpen, Stella McCartney, Isabel Marant, Veronica Etro and JJ Martin and the latest trends in haute couture, pre-fall collections and haute joaillerie are not to be missed. This time, there is also a special focus on the highlights of the renowned fair, “Watches & Wonders”, where we are looking at the trends of the moment. In short: An issue that is completely in tune with the spirit of the times!
International networking, creative potential and intersections – sounds like the mantras of a team-building seminar, put exaggeratedly, but are indeed great challenges for the luxury industry. A segment that would benefit from a little more balance, especially in view of the pressure to succeed on a creative and – honestly – on an economic level. In the past months, we have asked ourselves the question of the golden mean in all areas. Where are the synergies between art and fashion (p. 76), the interface between elegance and comfort (p. 56) or a balance between trends and craftsmanship (pp. 86 and 116)? The impressive 196 pages of this issue are our answer and show the grandiose teams who form the supposed opposi- tes. The result – and this is where an overly compromising approach ends – is often surprising: if you set your stan- dards high enough, you don‘t have to compromise. – A motto to which L‘Offi- ciel has been committed for 100 years! For a whole century, we have not only been reporting on trends, but also shaping them. With the current issue, we can add another chapter to this rich history and hopefully write fashion history together with you.

We would have liked our spring issue to appear at a better time. As a team, we want to recall the words of Martin Luther King: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive our hate: only love can do that”. Together, we are hoping for a better day.
There comes a time in life, when one is at a loss for words. Mostly, this comes at a time of great loss, which we, as a team are experiencing right now. We lost not only our publisher, but also our friend, our guiding light and our greatest supporter. To her family, Svitlana was a loving wife and mother – we cannot fathom their grief, yet we have faith, that she will live on through this title, through us all, and through everything that we will continue to create in her name and with her spirit in mind. Accordingly, we traveled to Madrid for our largest cover production to date: a project that was dear to Svitlana’s heart. We would like to thank all of our partners in this production, especially Valentina Zenere and Andre Lamoglia and their management, the wonderful team at Hotel Gran Ingles in Madrid that hosted us during our stay, and our wonderful team for making it all possible. This issue, called “The Summer of Love – The Philanthropy Issue”, is focused on the charitable projects of the brands and names central to the world of fashion and luxury. After all, love and kindness are the greatest forms of philanthropy. Svitlana was the embodiment of love, light and kindness and we hope, we have done her proud with this issue. In loving memory
Summer draws to a close and we enter what I personally believe to be the most beauti- ful of seasons: autumn. Autumn leaves do not only bring cooler weather, but also more diversity into our closets – a welcome change. This season, we bring to you “The Athleisure Issue”. The athleisure market is booming and athletes and luxury brands have long formed a successful symbiosis. In this issue, we take a look at some of the most current collabo- rations between luxury fashion and jewellery brands and the world of sport.
The year has gone by in a glimpse of an eye, or so it seems, and here we are once again: the festive sea- son is upon us. As a tribute and celebration of the return of the ball season, we dedicated our winter issue to glamour and all things glamorous. Accord- ingly, we present a story on the most glamorous per- sonalities in Austrian history.
Spring is a time for re-birth, resurrection and rejuve- nation. In the luxury and fashion world it is the season best attributed to sustainability and a more mindful approach to our planet and its resources. With this in mind, we have dedicated our spring issue to the topic of sustainability. What is being done in the world of luxury and fashion to ensure for a more mindful approach and which fashion brand can be seen as being most sustai- nable?
Spring makes everything new and therefor it is only logical that we have made the current issue of L’Officiel Monaco all about the latest trends. From the new innovations in ready-to-wear to the contemporary influences shaping haute couture, this issue is packed with visionary approaches and focuses on the people behind them. Readers can expect in-depth interviews with visionaries such as Donatella Versace, Sandra Choi, Marine Serre and Christine Nagel. In addition, there are elaborately staged editorials, for example with supermodel Winnie Harlow, that capture the spirit of the times and whet your appetite for the new season and its fashion.
It is hardly an exaggeration to speak of the comeback of the year: at this point, we are not necessarily referring to a spe- cific trend such as layering (page 22) or sophisticated cuts (page 96), but to fashion as such. After the last few months, which were marked by restrictions, hope and joie de vivre are returning to the Life stage. More than ever before, there is also a call for sty- listic self-expression which may come as a surprise. The prime example is our cover: after all, Katy Perry is known for her extravagant outfit choices and bold fashion statements, but for L‘Officiel she shows a different side and goes for clean modernity.

The nearly 200 impressive pages of this issue are our answer and show the grandiose teams who form the supposed opposi- tes. The result – and this is where an overly compromising approach ends – is often surprising: if you set your stan- dards high enough, you don‘t have to compromise. – A motto to which L‘Offi- ciel has been committed for 100 years! Time flies! It has been a year since L’Officiel was launched in Monaco and it has called the Principality its home ever since. Since then, we have been striving to bring you the most beautiful and exclusive content from the local market and from all over the world. An endeavor we would like to top once more with this issue – for we have made the wonderful world of Haute Joaillerie our theme and are diving into the sea of high-class designs (p. 90), unveiling the backgrounds (p. 102) and shedding light on all facets (p. 106). An endeavour we would like to top once more with this issue – for we have made the wonderful world of Haute Joaillerie our theme and are diving into the sea of high-class designs (p. 90), unveiling the backgrounds (p. 102) and shedding light on all facets (p. 106). It is precisely because Haute Joaillerie and Haute Couture make such an exquisite pair that the supreme discipline of Fashion must of course not be neglected in this issue. Up-andcoming designers such as Sabina Bilenko (p. 114) are represented as well as veterans such as Ziad Nakad (p. 110) or Imane Ayissi (p. 112), who was the first Fashion Designer with African roots to conquer the world of Haute Couture. In this way, we aim to find the perfect balance between tradition and progress – which shows how savoir-faire and innovation can be combined. Novelty is also a good keyword here as, starting with the next issue, a new Editor-in-Chief will welcome you and continue exploring the wonderful world of luxury and fashion with you.
We would have liked our spring issue to appear at a better time. During a time of such turmoil, we hope that this, current issue will bring a little light into your day and have a number of beautiful editorials in store for you. Amongst them, is our cover shoot with the radiant and beautiful, Meredith Mickelson, of course. The Parklane Limassol Resort in Cyprus was our wonderful host for this shoot and we hope, that you too, dear readers will be interested in discovering this breathtaking resort for yourselves. Together, we take you on a tour of the ancient city-kingdom of Kourion in Cyprus, to unravel the mysteries of the past and enjoy the Mediterranean Sea.
